What are the two things that are most synonymous with Provence? Mais oui, Lavender fields, Sunsets and rosé wine! Oh, the romance of Provence rarely escapes our hearts and souls, having inspired travellers and artists for centuries with its charm and beauty.
Let's talk about rosé wine. Many of the first recorded wines were rosé, light libations made by watering down field blends of combined white and red grapes. In ancient Greece, it was considered civilized to dilute wine (we are glad this changed!). It was the sixth century BC when the Phocaeans brought grape vines from Greece to Massalia (modern day Marseille) in southern France. The wines they produced were field blends of white and red grapes. Naturally light in colour, these pleasant pink wines soon were talked about around the Mediterranean!
When the Romans landed later in Provence, they had already heard all about the pink wines of Massalia. They took these coveted wines and used their super-connected trade networks to make them popular around the Mediterranean. As a result, the south of France is considered the epicenter of rosé even today!
So, let’s fast forward to 2021! The quality and attention to excellence in flavour that you discover amongst the plentiful wineries across Provence inspired us to create a new spirit that reflects our passion for flavour and extraction.
Et voila! We have created the first, 100% French Vodka Rosé! To do this, we have created a new process – Active Wine Extraction (AWX). For us blending wasn’t enough, it is the art of extraction that beats in the DNA of our distillery.
How do we do this? C’est trés simple! Our 100% French Vodka Rosé is made using an organic Rosé wine from Provence and vodka made with the highest quality French winter wheat. We extract the flavour molecules using AWX, our trademark low temperature, low pressure extraction method which condenses the flavour molecules, leaving the finest aromatic flavour components and pigment naturally derived from the grape skins.
We then create the perfect ‘accords’ of the molecules of the Rosé extract and the Vodka. It’s not really simple at all but our passion for flavour and extraction has resulted in something quite special. A new kind of vodka.
